Senate Intelligence Panel Agrees Russia Intervened to Help Trump

Veselnitskaya replied that she did not have information on Clinton and suggested that the Trump campaign research it, Akhmetshin and Kaveladze said.

Trump Jr has said since that no "meaningful information" was offered and the meeting focused mostly on the issue of adoptions of Russian children.

"In the transcript from Trump Jr.'s testimony, he says, "(I) n his email to me Rob suggested that someone had official documents and information that would incriminate Hilary Clinton and her dealings with Russian Federation and that the information would be very useful to the campaign".

Like Trump Jr. and Kushner, who released his own statement about the meeting a year ago, Goldstone considered the meeting disappointing.

A former USA attorney says it "almost defies credibility" that President Trump was not aware of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer.

"I've heard nothing to contradict anything from the [intelligence community assessment] particularly in terms of the fact Russian massively intervened in our elections to the goal of helping Mr. Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton", the committee's top Democrat, Mark Warner of Virginia, told reporters after the committee held a closed hearing with intelligence committee leaders.

The top Democrat on the House intelligence committee agreed.

The Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday held a closed-door hearing to finish reviewing an intelligence assessment of Russian interference and announced that there was no reason to doubt findings from the intelligence community that Russia interfered in the 2016 election in order to support the candidacy of Donald Trump and harm Hillary Clinton. But if that possibility fazed Trump Jr., it didn't show in the transcripts.

NC Representative calls teachers "thugs" ahead of May 16 rally
Charles Hellwig, chairman of the Wake County Republican Party, on Tuesday criticized the North Carolina Association of Educators. More than 15,000 teachers signed up to attend the rally, but it's unclear how many will take the day off and come to the march.

In addition, the transcripts reflect an aggressive Russian outreach to Trump both before and after the June 2016 meeting, including an effort to arrange a follow-up get-together that November with members of his transition team.

"I said to him, 'Don, I really want to apologize, '" Goldstone said. Goldstone himself had sold the pitch to Trump "obviously very high-level and sensitive information but is part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump helped along by [Agalarov...]" and was later embarrassed after Veselnitskaya reportedly began discussing a separate topic.

Trump Jr. also made several calls to blocked numbers as he was setting up the meeting, but said he didn't remember who he had called.

Trump reportedly believed the meeting could open doors to lucrative developments in Russian Federation.

The committee did not interview Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer at the center of the meeting.

The two, plus a handful of others from the Trump campaign (including the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner) met with the lawyer at Trump Tower in NY. "Their efforts to hide the meeting and its true objective are consistent with a larger pattern of false statements about the Trump campaign's relationship with Russian Federation".

"I don't officially start until the 15th Rob".
