The women's golf, tennis and soccer teams ranked in the top 10 percent of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Rate report, the NCAA said today.
Baseball, men's cross country, women's golf, men's hockey, women's and men's tennis, and women's swimming and diving all extended streaks for picking up April awards. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is meant to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
Teams earning Public Recognition Awards increased to 1,284, up by 79 from the previous academic year, largely as a result of an increase in ideal scores.
This is the 13th year that Academic Progress Rate (APR) data has been collected for Division I schools.
"The academic performance by our student-athletes is a source of pride for UConn and I am honored to be associated with such an impressive group of young men and women", director of athletics David Benedict said.
Also among those 13 are two teams-women's basketball and men's fencing-that won NCAA championships in 2018.
Three programs were honored for the second consecutive year, and beach volleyball earned the program's first recognition. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is meant to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
Mourinho: I won't name a new assistant
Chelsea , Bayern Munich and Juventus have all emerged as suitors to sign a player who cost United £36million three years ago. Carrick's move to the dugout means he is the latest former United player to move into coaching.
The APR is a measure to track a student-athlete's chances of graduating.
Duke's women's fencing, football and men's golf programs have earned the honor in all 13 years of the program.
"It's not a coincidence that Minnesota continues to appear at the top of many academic categories, including April awards", said Athletics Director Mark Coyle. To be recognized, a program must rank in the top 10 percent within the sport nationally.
The women's fencing and men's golf programs earned their first NCAA Public Recognition Award. The overall April report covering all sports will be released next week.
Each of the four recorded ideal multiyear Academic Progress Rates of 1,000 (counting scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 years as well).
Teams must meet a threshold of 930 to qualify for postseason play and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.
