Authorities have arrested Gloria Williams, 51, in SC on charges of kidnapping and interference with custody, the sheriff said. As an infant, Kamiyah Mobley was abducted by a woman named Gloria Williams, who posed as a nurse at Florida's University Medical Center. For the longest time, she kept the secret to herself. Williams confessed her crimes to Mobley.
"There are no winners and losers in this case. It is a very sad case and many people have suffered including Miss Williams as a result of her choices on that day", Aho said.
"The family in this case suffered not knowing what happened to their child for approximately 18 years". At last month's hearing she said Williams should receive the death sentence, something she would never be eligible for. She didn't tell the girl of her true identity until the young woman discovered she couldn't get a driver's license because she didn't have a valid birth certificate or Social Security card. Her biological family was told that Kamiyah had been found.
Detectives, following a tip to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in August 2016, interviewed a witness who said Kamiyah had claimed she was kidnapped from a Jacksonville hospital as a baby, according to the affidavit for Williams' arrest.
According to the documents, Williams dressed as a nurse and visited the hospital room of Shanara Mobley shortly after her baby's birth.
Kamiyah has spent time with her biological parents since then, but still supports the only mother she knew. She has professed sadness that Williams faces years in a prison cell, and had pleaded for a shorter sentence. Prior to making statements at the sentencing hearing about the punishment he would like for Williams, Aiken has said he has kept his feelings about the abductor to himself because it would only serve to drive a wedge between him and his daughter.

Gloria Williams is accused of kidnapping newborn Kamiyah Mobleyin 1998.
Williams said he did not know if Kamiyah planned on reuniting with her biological parents. In 1998 she became pregnant and said she believed the new child would heal the relationship between her and her partner. In order to build a relationship with her child, Mobley wants to make sure Williams won't be close by.
"I still feel the same way about her", she said at the time.
