Square Enix’s E3 Presentation Leaves Audiences Asking: Is This It?

The hyped presentation did have plenty to share on a new Tomb Raider title, to which they devoted about seven minutes of their half-hour presser.

Instead, all we received from Square Enix at E3 2018 was a short and succinct showcase that had already blown its biggest reveal way in advance: the Kingdom Hearts 3 release date.

Just Cause 4 launches on December 4th on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

That suggests the transition we saw in the video is how the game works - blending TV show style cut scenes with gameplay. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming on September 4th.

Not that we're complaining, as the sandbox destruction looked as fun as ever - especially with the new extreme weather effects and more versatile grapple hook. Sadly, both also had immaterial showings with next to no details revealed about what they will be like; the ultimate E3 tease.

It's been a while since Square Enix has used E3 for any major announcements, but they're going all-in this year, started with a pre-recorded livestream featuring their current line-up. There will also be a crossover event with Brave Exvius. It's not just for the sake of their fans, but for the sake of their public image.

Square Enix may not have the most to show off at the 2018 Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show in Los Angeles this week, but it does have some of the most anticipated games in development.
