Robert De Niro Says 'Fk Trump' at Tony Awards, Earning Massive Ovation

Robert De Niro had a few choice words for President Donald Trump while the legendary actor was on stage at Sunday's Tony Awards to introduce Bruce Springsteen's musical performance.

The move, which generated headlines around the world, didn't appear to sit too well with The Project co-host Waleed Aly when it came up during Tuesday night's episode of the news program.

As he took to the stage in NY to introduce a performance by Bruce Springsteen, the Oscar winning screen icon began a furious attack on the US President. Aly asked after the footage was replayed on screen.

"First, I wanna say, 'f**k Trump, '" De Niro said, as many in the crowd cheered, with some eventually giving him a standing ovation at Radio City Music Hall.

But De Niro stepped up to the mic and made a decision to get one thing out of the way first.

At the Tony awards, De Niro launched an expletive at Trump and pumped his arms like a boxer for emphasis.

At a promotional event for a Nobu restaurant and hotel, De Niro said, "I just want to make a note of apology for the idiotic behavior of my president".

Although many people in attendance at the Tony Awards showed support to De Niro, some celebrities took to Twitter to express their disapproval towards the man's harsh words. "I'd like to punch him in the face!"
