WC 2018: Blow for France as Mbappe suffers injury

France star Kylian Mbappé has left training injured on Tuesday.

The 19-year old striker, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, hurt his left ankle due to a tackle from defender Adil Rami and was unable to continue with the practice.

The session was broadcast live on YouTube by the French Football Federation but although Mbappe required several minutes of attention before returning to his feet, no update was released in the following hours until the 19-year-old posted on social media last night.

France arrived in Russian Federation on June 10 and will begin their World Cup campaign against Group C rivals Australia in Kazan on Saturday night (AEST).

"I am doing fine, it was just a knock, so nothing serious but thank you for your messages", he wrote via his official Twitter account while urging fans to "lay off my friend Adil Rami as it was not malicious".

Les Bleus continued preparations for the World Cup at the Glebovets Stadium in Istra on Tuesday, but Didier Deschamps's session came to a grinding halt when Mbappe went down in apparent agony. They will then face Peru and Denmark to complete the group stage.

Kylian Mbappe scored a late equalizer for France to offset a goal from Julian Green and deny an inexperienced USMNT side a win in Lyon.
