Celtics made offer for Kawhi Leonard before trade deadline

However, San Antonio apparently turned down the offer and didn't counter it.

Few in his orbit expect Popovich to coach the Spurs beyond the 2020 Summer Olympics, and there always has been the possibility that he could spend the 2019-20 season traveling around the NBA and across the globe, preparing for his national team duties.

"I'm told that Leonard and his camp would like to be offered it and would like to start to talk about that kind of a future with San Antonio, but so much has gone on in the a year ago - Leonard taking his medical outside of the team, the disconnect between him and the organization over the last several months".

As of last week, however, trades were "not being entertained yet by the Spurs", according to ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski (via Jeff Garcia of Fox San Antonio).

Leonard signed a five-year contract worth more than $90 million in 2015.

Felger & Mazz producer James Stewart tweeted back in May that the Spurs offered Leonard themselves to an Eastern Conference team that wasn't the Celtics, and said team laughed at them.

Bitcoin reached its peak price of nearly $20,000 in December but is now trading at around $6,300 according to the Coin Market Cap. In a nutshell, trades of Tether were "timed following market downturns" triggering "sizable increases in Bitcoin prices".

The meeting could happen as soon as this week, the San Antonio Express-News reported Monday.

"They're a long way from the offer of a $219 million contract, from a franchise and a franchise star resurrecting a relationship".

These rumors can be dated all the way back when Tim Duncan retired; that Popovich might go out with him but the legendary coach made a decision to stay on.

Leonard could become an unrestricted free agent next summer where the Spurs could lose him without getting anything in return.

While the Celtics would be more than glad to stay the course with two of the most promising forwards in the league, as well as the reintegration of their two superstars in Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving, acquiring a forward the likes of Leonard must be considered. It is something that he can achieve if Leonard teams up with him in Cleveland next season.
