The gang has been linked to several attacks in New York including a fatal stabbing in the Bronx on June 18 that left a 14-year-old in critical condition, the New York Times reported. He tried to run to St. Barnabas Hospital just a block away, but police say he ended up collapsing on the sidewalk. Authorities believe the suspects were part of the gang and their weapon of choice is primarily a machete, which was used to injure and thus kill Guzman-Feliz.
A bleeding Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz, 15, is seen walking back inside, where he jumps over the counter in what appears to be an attempt to flee his attackers. Guzman-Feliz was in the NYPD Explorers program and had wanted to become a New York City police officer when he got older.
Alvarez, who was scheduled to be arraigned today, turned himself in to NY police this weekend and has been charged with murder in the second degree, manslaughter, gang assault and assault, according to the NYPD.
The Guzman-Feliz's family members received messages from men who said they were members of a Dominican gang, the Trinitarios, and that they killed the teen by mistake.
