GOP ex-Sen. Jon Kyl will be the 'sherpa' for SCOTUS nominee

Washington. President Trump is expected to announce his choice for Supreme Court Justice Monday evening

A quick look at the “final four” Supreme Court candidates

Trump plans to announce his pick to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy during prime time Monday night.

It will be one of the most consequential decisions President Trump makes during his time in the White House, and he will announce it tonight.

One of the judges on Trump's shortlist, Amy Coney Barrett, serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in Donnelly's home state of in - a factor that could make the lawmaker more likely to vote in favor should Barrett be the nominee. Conservative figures have expressed a variety of opinions about which potential Justice would have the best impact on the next generation for the Court.

US President Donald Trump has made his final decision to nominate Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, as he seeks to shift the balance of the court further to the right. Is there one of those four you could support, or do you think Democrats should unite and oppose whomever the president taps?

On the same day Kennedy announced his retirement, Casey took to Twitter, writing, "If an individual from the list provided to candidate Donald Trump by far-right organizations like the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society is nominated, then I am highly unlikely to support that nominee". Trump's sister, a retired federal judge, served with Hardiman on the 3rd Circuit and reportedly recommended him for the job.

The nomination is Trump's second to the nation's highest court, a rare presidential privilege that could seal a key part of Trump's legacy less than two years into his first term. They must defend 10 seats in the Senate in states that President Trump won.

With Democrats determined to vigorously oppose Trump's choice, the Senate confirmation battle is expected to dominate the months leading up to November's midterm elections.

Kethledge, a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, is a former Kennedy clerk and a former in-house lawyer at Ford Motor Co.

Justin Bieber has confirmed his engagement to Hailey Baldwin
The couple got engaged at a resort in the Bahamas on July 7, a date that holds religious significance to Bieber. Bieber told GQ magazine that same year that she was not his girlfriend but "someone I really love".

Barrett - a longtime Notre Dame Law School professor who became a federal appeals judge last fall - excited social conservatives with her testimony when she was questioned about her Roman Catholic faith in her nomination hearings a year ago.

President Trump has decided on his nominee for the Supreme Court, a source with knowledge of the search told Fox News, though the name of the pick still is not known.

Last week I was told Trump had essentially narrowed the list down to two: Kavanaugh and 6th Circuit Judge Raymond Kethledge.

In the late 1990s, Kavanaugh played a lead role in the aggressive investigation of President Bill Clinton led by independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr.

With a slim one vote majority in the Senate, any GOP defections could prove problematic in winning confirmation for Trump's eventual choice, that is if Democrats hold together in opposition. Democrats who were invited but declined included Sens.

Signaling the fight ahead on abortion rights, Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said in a statement: "There's no way to sugarcoat it: With this nomination, the constitutional right to access safe, legal abortion in this country is on the line".

Such comments are likely to raise a red flag to moderate Republican senators like Susan Collins, R-Maine, who have said they would not vote for a nominee who has expressed doubts about overturning precedents when it comes to abortion and other long-standing Supreme Court decisions. Barletta was elected to the U.S. House in 2010-a Republican "wave" year-and was also rumored to be on Trump's short list for labor secretary during the transition.
