Australia's climb up the Twenty20 rankings has been halted by a red-hot Pakistan, losing their tri-series final in Zimbabwe by six wickets.

In the points table, Pakistan is at the top by winning three out of four matches in this series.

Australia captain Aaron Finch was given a first-ball reprieve when he was dropped by Malik in the deep after top-edging a hook, and several misfields allowed any pressure with the new ball to be immediately dissipated.

The latest rankings, which also take into account India's 2-0 and 2-1 series win against Ireland and England, respectively, Finch leads Pakistan's left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman by 45 points. A batting line-up which featured a batsman like Aaron Finch, who had just blasted the Zimbabwean attack to all corners of the ground as he went about collecting the highest individual T20I score of 172, was not one against whom one would experiment with their youngest bowler.

"After this tour we'll have a really, really close look at everything we're doing at the moment, including our leadership, which is such an incredibly high priority in Australian cricket", Langer said after Sunday's loss to Pakistan.

Nic Maddinson, who managed scores of 5 and 2 in his first two worldwide limited-overs games in almost five years on this tour, has been dropped.

A Single Goal Sends France To The World Cup Final
They lost in extra time in Paris in the final of the 2016 European Championship to Portugal. "I feel very proud for my group". But we will be ready because we have an extremely good state of mind and it is the semi-finals in the World Cup.

As Finch, Zaman and KL Rahul became the new podium holders, they replaced an injured Babar Azam, Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell and moved below them.

Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman also jumped 44 places to reach No 2 spot in the ranking.

Among others ending the England v India series with career-best points were Jason Roy (up 19 spots to number15 with 641 points) and Jos Buttler (up nine spots to number 17 with 614 points), but perhaps the most breath-taking rise has been that of Zimbabwe opener Solomon Mire.

D'Arcy Short, Finch's opening partner, entered the top 10 rankings for the first time.

Farhan was stumped by Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey off Glenn Maxwell in the first over of Pakistan's chase, off a wide delivery as he had ventured out of the crease to get his first global runs. The tournament will feature 16 sides with the remaining six sides hoping to qualify for the World T20 via the ICC Men's World T20 Qualifier 2019.

That challenging total set by the Zimbabweans was thanks mainly to Mire, who helped his team recover from the dismissal of Cephas Zhuwao from the very first ball of the morning.
