PGA Tour to bring tournament to Detroit Golf Club in June 2019

PGA Rocket Mortgage Classic to be played in Detroit in June

PGA Tour schedule in 2018-19 released, includes shortened FedEx Cup playoffs

Behind the tighter schedule was a desire for the tour to complete its season at the Tour Championship before the start of college football and the NFL.

After The Open and WGC-FedEx St. Jude, the Wyndham Championship will conclude the regular season, followed by playoff events for the top 125 (Northern Trust), top 70 (BMW Championship) and top 30 (Tour Championship) in FedEx Cup points.

The PGA Championship, which is the fourth and final major on the 2018 PGA Tour schedule, will be moved three months earlier in the calendar next year, from August to May.

The PGA TOUR announced its 2018-19 schedule on Tuesday, with the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational set to be contested from July 25-28, 2019, at TPC Southwind.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic in June is the first PGA Tour event to be held in Detroit and takes the place of the Quicken Loans National, meaning Tiger Woods loses one of the events that benefits his foundation. Dubbed the Aon Risk Reward Challenge, the competition will award a player with the best cumulative score on "the most strategically challenging holes across both the PGA Tour and LPGA schedules" next season.

He added: "The boat neck and cut is reminiscent of the wedding gown so it's a silhouette she knows wows". Missing was the queen's husband, Prince Philip, 97, who has retired from public life.

Two tournaments - the Houston Open and A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier (above) - will be played in the fall moving forward and will next be part of the PGA Tour schedule during the 2019-2020 season.

The RBC Canadian Open moves a week before the U.S. Open, held next year at Pebble Beach. Key to the changes was the PGA Championship moving from August to May, and The Players Championship returning to March. The TPC Boston, meanwhile, will rotate with a New York-area course every other year for the opening FedEx Cup playoff event.

Valspar is followed by the WGC-Dell Match Play Championship and the Valero Texas Open, which precedes the Masters. FedEx first became the title sponsor in 1986 and has supported the tournament ever since. "This will enhance the visibility of the FedEx Cup playoffs and overall fan engagement with the PGA Tour and the game as a whole".

The 46 events include four tournaments held opposite World Golf Championships, and one event opposite the British Open.
