History has shown that Russian Federation has a penchant for attempting to control Europe by cutting off energy supplies.

But Trump's harsh criticism of Germany echoes statements from US officials from past administrations, including Kerry himself, according to recently resurfaced videos, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Trump praised Poland, noting that the Eastern European country "won't accept the (Russian) gas".

US President Donald Trump accused Germany on Wednesday of being a "captive" of Russian Federation due to its energy reliance. He said he also mentioned tripartite talks [on gas - EU-RF-Ukraine], which they will hold.
