His Pakistan Muslim League says Sharif is due back on Friday.

Former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif are to be arrested at Abu Dhabi airport in United Arab Emirates (UAE) later in the day, according to reports.

Sharif, ousted by the Supreme Court for corruption last July, was convicted in absentia last week and sentenced to 10 years. Maryam Nawaz, 44, seen as the political heir of Sharif, said that going back to Pakistan "to go to prison was the most hard decision of our lives because my mother is on the ventilator and we don't know what happens next, their is no pain like that of leaving your mother behind in such situation but there's a national duty and we must make this important journey". Officials have said a helicopter each had been positioned at airports in Islamabad and Lahore airports for the arrest.

While addressing a press conference here in London on Wednesday he said, " I am leaving Kalsoom Nawaz behind to return Pakistan".

Sharif said he would not stop now regardless of whether he was "taken to prison or gallows".

He said the police are taking only anti-social elements into custody ahead of Sharif's arrival.

Police officers took photographs of each other at the massive cave entrance, as pumps continued to suck out huge volumes of water. They will remain in hospital in the nearby city of Chiang Rai for a week, followed by a week's recuperation at home.

"Everyone is involved in this blatant rigging from the caretaker Punjab chief minister to the caretaker interior minister and police officials", the PML-N president asserted, as he warned the officials concerned of "fair judgement" if the PML-N is voted to power again.

"Despite seeing the bars of prison in front of my eyes, I am going to Pakistan", Sharif told Pakistani journalists this week in London, where he vowed to re-assert "civilian supremacy".

In a video message in support of her son and granddaughter ahead of their expected return, Nawaz's mother Shamim Begum said that "the leader who made Pakistan prosperous is returning to the homeland".

PML-N members have said the crackdown on workers who handle street level organizing will make it harder for them to stage rallies and protests on Sharif's return, when he will challenge the verdict and sentence against him.

Sharif was ordered jailed after failing to explain how the family acquired the London flats in a case stemming from 2016 Panama Papers revelations that showed they owned the apartments through off-shore companies.

While Junaid, on the other hand, has come forward that the PTI workers spat at him and even proceeded to attack him.
