Dallas County Reports First West Nile Virus Death Of The Year

They say two pools of mosquitoes tested positive for the virus. This follows last week's positive test result in Woodstock.

West Nile Virus is communicated to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito.

Most people infected with the virus have no symptoms at all, or they have flu-like symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches and fatigue.

The Ada County Mosquito Abatement District confirmed today the first case of West Nile here.

There have been three human cases of West Nile virus in the county this year.

Since 2000, 134 cases of the virus have been diagnosed in CT residents and three people have died after being infected with the virus.

The product used will be a mosquito pesticide called Zenivex E20, which kills adult mosquitoes, but is not harmful to people and pets.

Drain any standing water in your yard.

According to an announcement from Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office, the rates of mosquitoes carrying West Nile have been much higher this year.
