Jarvis Landry goes on profanity-laced rant in Hard Knocks season premiere

The show opened in predictable fashion with scenes of workers tearing down the LeBron James mural downtown followed by Hue Jackson's Lake Erie cleansing but by the end of the episode, that 0-16 season felt like a distant memory.

Hard Knocks, the annual summer-time tradition from HBO that lifts the curtain on National Football League training camps, premiered on Tuesday night and as usual the show had social media buzzing.

Additionally, Cleveland is trying to get its wide receivers going, although that has proven to be quite the process. Once he's alone again, he whispers to himself, "Keep going".

Hard Knocks storyline: Nassib popped on screen while giving his fellow defensive lineman tips on financial planning, including explaining the concept of compound interest. Landry's speech in which he tore into the receivers for not producing in practice is why this franchise has any hope of a resurrection. Jackson says as he watched the practice it, "Sucks, sucks, sucks".

Death Toll in Sunday's Lombok Earthquake Rises to 91
Lombok was hit by another powerful 6.4 quake a week earlier on July 29, killing 17 people and injuring hundreds of people. Rescuers are still struggling to reach survivors of the deadly Indonesian quake that has killed at least 91 people .

"I don't know what the [expletive] has been going on here", Landry said to his teammates, "and I don't know why it's been going on". But if you're not hurt, like if your hamstring ain't falling off the f- bone; your leg ain't broke.

Injured Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier agreed with Landry, saying on Twitter "you got to be on the field to get better". Straight up. Like that [expletive] is weakness, and that [expletive] is contagious as [expletive], and that [expletive] ain't going to be in this room, bro. That s-- been here in the past, and that's why the past has been like it is, bro. If you ain't f--ing hurt, you gotta f--ing practice. "That s-- is over with here, bro".

As The Ringer sees it, the first episode's MVPs were two quarterbacks - and not the one you might expect. Jackson gets the news from his sister Kimberly on the phone in his office. I'm just letting you know. All that "me" [expletive] don't [expletive] live here no more. The other quarterbacks made him buy the RV. The RV, not to mention Mayfield, figure to get a lot of screen time in the behind-the-scenes series. It surprised me that Jackson was so adamant that Gordon will be coming back, when Gordon has such an unreliable history. John-Baptiste says. "We haven't talked about that, right?"

Mayfield played a big part in the premiere as well.
