Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in training, the English Premier League club has confirmed.

A club statement said the full extent of the injury is not yet known, but the 27-year-old Belgium worldwide was undergoing tests.

De Bruyne left training today on crutches and the club will discuss sending the Belgian to Catalan doctor Ramon Cugat, who Guardiola has leaned on in the past.

"He's doing very, very well but we already know what he's capable of". I was able to play almost a full season last season after having big injuries. It was a really good run for myself.

Manchester City are attempting to defend their Premier League title and improve their fortunes in Europe but may have to do so with De Bruyne until at least October.

"Actually I didn't even see what exactly happened because it was at my back", he added. Pep Guardiola will be hoping that the early season form shown by Bernardo Silva will be able to be continued after the Portuguese deputised dutifully during their opening two games of the season against Chelsea and Arsenal. He was maybe the main man for us last season.

Gundogan and Fernandinho were speaking at the world premiere of All or Nothing: Manchester City, available on Amazon Prime Video from Thursday.
