World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will remain Tottenham Hotspur's captain when he returns from injury despite being convicted of drink driving, manager Mauricio Pochettino said today. He said he was guilty of this situation and it's irresponsible.
The Argentine boss confirmed Lloris would continue in the captain's role and again insisted the goalkeeper regrets the incident after he was banned from driving for 20 months on Wednesday and fined £50k.
"The reality is they have a very good team and they have very good players", Pochettino said. Only we need to try, that he understands, and how he understands that it was a mistake.
"He's punishing himself. But of course we're not God, that we can judge people".
"He's the first [to accept it was a mistake], he told me, "Gaffer, it's a massive lesson for me".
