The Roku Premiere

When the Roku Premiere first launched in 2016, it looked a lot like the Roku 4 and Roku Ultra: It wasn't quite a full-size player, but it was a far cry from the Roku Express, the smallest member of the Roku family. Walmart's Roku Premiere+ will run for $49.99, and both devices will be available on October 7th. The updated Premiere is getting 4K HDR support, and the new Premiere+ adds Google Assistant.

Roku does not give a specific list of which Roku devices will see the Google Assistant update.

Roku Express and Express+ These devices carry over from a year ago. And if you've got a Roku, you'll be able to stream from Spotify Connect.

Even before that, there'll be better voice support courtesy of the Google Assistant. One of those new commands will be "Show me free [media type]". Roku will then show you a list of free content that you can access.

Roku Premiere+. Otherwise identical to the Premiere, this version adds a voice remote with TV power & volume buttons for just $50. This would allow you to, say, search for free comedies, combining Roku's abilities to comb through content and find whatever's free. The results painted a clear picture ... The improved Roku Ultra will likewise ship in early October.

Lionel Messi Won't Be Attending 'The Best Awards' In London
The event will be held in London on Monday, September 24 and the finalists are: Cristiano Ronaldo , Mohamed Salah and Luka Modric .

We got a chance to see them during a recent press demo held in San Francisco and, alongside them, a slew of updates coming to the software side that will make finding something to watch a significantly less expensive process.

Additionally, a OS 8.2 is on its way to Roku TVs starting in November.

What just happened? Roku is bolstering its product catalog heading into the holidays with two new devices that offer 4K HDR streaming in stocking stuffer-sized form factor.

The low $40 price is afforded partly by the use of an infrared remote that lacks a wireless connection with the Premiere, or a microphone for Roku's voice search feature. The only difference between the two is the Premiere Plus will offer voice capabilities. Its price remains unchanged at $99.99.
