Samsung’s Galaxy Book 2 refresh has Qualcomm power inside

Samsung's latest 2-in-1 tablet gives you freedom to roam for two working days

The Galaxy Book 2's new keyboard case attaches to the tablet at an angle, making for a more ergonomic typing experience.

Battery life is also a highlight of always-on devices, and the Galaxy Book 2 will get up to 20 hours of life per charge, according to Samsung.

Samsung has announced a new version of its Galaxy Book 2-in-1 PC and it features the new octocore Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 mobile PC processor rather than one of Intel's chips. Qualcomm said the new chipset would offer 30 percent better performance and battery life than Snapdragon 835-powered PCs. However, with a new generation of silicon and number of Windows updates that have improved Snapdragon on Windows compatibility, we could be looking at major real-world gains for non-x86 Windows machines.

Samsung has lifted the veil off the successor to last year's Galaxy Book.

The Snapdragon 850 is at the heart of the Galaxy Book2, which also has a 12-inch 2160x1440 Super AMOLED touchscreen, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

Around back, there's an 8-MP rear camera next to the Galaxy Book 2's fingerprint reader, which seems to me like a bit of an awkward location. At up to 20 hours, it's nearly double the first Galaxy Book. It also comes with a couple of USB Type-C ports, a microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack. As of now, there is no word on whether the Galaxy Book 2 will make its way to India.

Once again the S Pen and the keyboard case are included.

As you can see in the image above, the device looks pretty much like what you'd expect from Surface Pro copycats. But in the end, the Galaxy Book 2 is going to live and die upon its ability to deliver those sky-high battery claims and performance that doesn't feel like it's lacking in speed, both things that will require a little more in-depth testing to determine.

That box filled with the complete product, you might be wondering, will cost $999 (about £757, AU$1,399) in the United States when it launches on November 2 on AT&T, Microsoft and Samsung's online stores.
