AC Milan now sit fourth in the Serie A league table under manager Gennaro Gattuso and reports suggest that despite a decent start to the season the AC Milan club hierarchy are unhappy with the manager.

The veteran tactician has been out of the game since leaving Arsenal at the end of last season as he seemingly bides his time and takes the opportunity to rest.

Speaking on beinSports, Wenger said: "The only thing I can say it's fake news".

Reports in France state Arsene Wenger is very close to agreeing a deal to become the new Milan Coach. "It's wrong information. I cannot master the rumours, I am just focused on doing well for beIN Sports and that's not easy". "It's wrong", Wenger said on BEIN Sports.

Wenger, who remains without a club after bringing a 22-year spell at Arsenal to a close over the summer, is among those reported to be in the Milan frame.

Real president Florentino Perez has reportedly been personally in touch with Wenger about taking up the vacant head coach role at the club. I don't need to tell you he's an incredible manager.

He also confirmed that he plans to return to football at the beginning of 2019, but did not know where.

Gattuso, meanwhile, led Milan to a sixth placed finish last season and they're now in the fourth spot of the standings. He was subsequently succeeded by Unai Emery at the London club.

Milan have recently appointed Ivan Gazidis, who previously worked closely with Wenger as Arsenal's chief executive.
