Down the road from the Thousand Oaks shooting, people are being evacuated because of a wildfire

Almost 150,000 residents in Southern California have been ordered to evacuate as the Hill and Woolsey Fires move westward toward the Pacific Ocean.

About 75,000 homes have been evacuated in Los Angeles and Ventura counties due to two fires in the region.

It quickly spread southwest toward Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks, the community still reeling from a mass shooting on Wednesday night, before making its way to the coast.

The blaze has spread rapidly overnight, fanned by strong winds, and has jumped Highway 101, a major route west of Los Angeles.

"We thought the fire was going to kill us", she told CNN.

As a result of the fire jumping the freeway, the City of Malibu was placed under mandatory evacuation orders, an emergency alert stated. The reality star's handsome home in the Malibu Hills was destroyed in the Woolsey fire, which is burning out of control.

Captain Scott McLean, from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, said the Camp Fire had grown to almost 110 square miles after devouring the town of Paradise. Last night it covered just 2,000 acres. This isn't the first time a natural disaster threatened her home.

Santa Barbara County fire agencies sent strike teams to help fight the Ventura County fires and local law enforcement agencies sent personnel south to help evacuate residents and staff road closures, sheriff's spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said Friday.

Scott Maclean, the state's forestry and fire protection spokesman, said a number of civilians and firefighters had been injured in the fire north of Sacramento but it would be days before the authorities knew whether anyone had died.
