He was the associate head coach under McCarthy each of the last four seasons.

McDaniels is certainly worthy of consideration for the head coaching vacancy; he's an offensive football wizard, and his resume in New England working under Belichick speaks wonders. "That's what really what I care about", Kraft said. "Again, I think it's important, as I said to the team, we've got to be professional, accountable, respectful and punctual. But again, I'm not anxious about that right now", he said earlier this week of possibly taking another head coaching gig. That's right, double-digit years of service with Green Bay and now he's on his way out. McDaniels also figures to be a good candidate for the Cleveland Browns.

McDaniels offered little insight into his future Tuesday during a conference call, telling reporters he's only concerned about winning Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. "This is a big challenge for us".

"If that's in the cards for me, then that's great", McDaniels said. All the other stuff is just, it is what it is and don't really pay too much attention to it. "We try to stay in the moment".

McDaniels was the Denver Broncos coach from 2009-10, when he went 11-17.

The 42-year-old McDaniels has served as the Patriots' offensive coordinator since the 2012 season.

Despite his high-profile abandonment of the Indianapolis Colts job after initially being announced as the new coach, McDaniels has been linked to some early head coach openings and openings-to-be.
