Special counsel Robert Mueller on Tuesday filed prosecutor's sentencing memorandum on former Donald Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, Sr.

The deadline comes ahead of Flynn's December 18 sentencing and more than a year after he pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about reaching out to Russian government officials on Trump's behalf.

The new Mueller memo says Mr Flynn had provided assistance in multiple investigations and had also given information on co-ordination between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

The filing was a sentencing memo ahead of a sentencing hearing Flynn will have before a federal judge in Washington, D.C. later this month.

President Trump called for Michael Cohen, his former lawyer, to "serve a full and complete sentence", Talking Points Memo reported Monday. Stone has also waged a public campaign against Mueller.

Thirty-three people and three companies have been charged in the probe, including Cohen, Trump's former lawyer who last week pleaded guilty to lying to Congress when he insisted that Trump was pursuing plans to build a Trump Tower in Moscow in 2016.

But for the most part, prosecutors will spell out in detail the matters they believe the former Trump campaign chairman misled them about, and their public disclosures could shed new light on where the Russian Federation investigation stands.

Mueller has wasted no time bringing into court other cooperating witnesses, such as George Papadopoulos, a former campaign adviser, and Paul Manafort, once Trump's campaign chairman, to face penalties for lying to his investigators or not fully cooperating. A USA official has told The Associated Press that Flynn was in frequent contact with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak on the day the Obama administration imposed sanctions on Russian Federation after United States intelligence reported that Russian Federation had interfered with the U.S. elections. But Michael Cohen, who Trump hired and worked closely with for many years, is a "weak person" who has done "TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things".

According to court papers, in mid-December 2016, Kushner directed Flynn to reach out to several countries, including Russian Federation, about a U.N. Security Council resolution regarding Israeli settlements.

Flynn, a retired army general, was forced to resign after he was found to have misled Vice President Mike Pence about discussions he had with Russia´s then-ambassador Sergei Kislyak.

Flynn was forced to resign his post on February 13, 2017, after news reports revealed that Obama administration officials had warned the Trump White House about Flynn's false statements. Flynn's business also began to do work for Turkish clients, including those with ties to Turkey's president.

Department of Justice veterans told INSIDER that they had never heard of a cooperator maintaining contact with the potential target of an investigation after striking a deal with prosecutors and that such communications could tank a cooperation agreement.
