Golden Globes' 2019 Hosts Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg Elicit Excitement

Awards shows have increasingly suffered from waning audiences, but the Globes has an edge on several fronts: it's considered to have a less formal, more freewheeling spirit (since it's staged as a banquet with an open bar), and it's also typically the first out of the gate in the new year.

Sandra took home a Golden Globe in 2006 for her role as Dr. Cristina Yang in the still running ABC drama, Grey's Anatomy.

Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg have been announced as hosts of the 2019 Golden Globes.

While it is unclear if Samberg may be nominated in the Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy category, many have speculated that Oh could be nominated for her work on Killing Eve.

"We're excited to welcome Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg as co-hosts of Hollywood's Party of the Year", Hollywood Foreign Press Association President, Meher Tatna, said in press release Wednesday. "They bring wit, charm, and style to a room filled with the very best of film and television".

The nominations will stream on the Globes' website as well as its Facebook page, beginning at 8:05 a.m. ET. The Golden Globes led NBC to the nightlong win in total viewers despite National Football League playoff competition.

Both stars have won Golden Globes, but neither have ever hosted the award show before.

The 75th Golden Globes in January drew 19 million viewers and a 5.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic (Live+Same Day).

According to E! the 2019 show will debut a new award 'measuring 11.5 inches tall, 3.75 inches wide and 3.75 inches deep.

The 76th Golden Globes will air Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 on NBC. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", on which he stars as Detective Jake Peralta, was canceled by Fox in May after five seasons.
