While the XS and XS Max are flagships through and through, the XR is a slightly toned-down smartphone that Apple pitched as the iPhone for everyone.

The company definitely took its time on this one, but Apple has now finally made the first official case for the iPhone XR available through its online store.

After December 31, Apple will revise the price of replacement of iPhone batteries to normal. Apple isn't exactly known for offering such steep discounts on its products, so it can be assumed that the iPhone XR is really struggling to gain traction with customers.

Now, in what might arguably represent the latest of Apple's struggles to jump-start new iPhone XS and XR sales, a report published this week by Bloomberg notes that the company reassigned several of its marketing staff from the individual projects they were working on, to focusing exclusively on iPhone marketing. It will work much the same way as Apple's student and corporate shopping portals do.

Apple's shares are down about 20 percent since it reported its October quarter earnings, which revealed flat year-over-year iPhone sales but revenue growth of 30 percent. While Apple recently refuted these reports, claiming that the XR has been the best-selling iPhone ever since it launched.

Last December, Apple was caught in a storm after it confessed that it was slowing down the performance of older iPhone models.

Apple is said to be ready to offer subsidies to operators to discount the iPhone XR in Japan. It has grown on me over the month and I've been buying accessories to support its use over the long term. Need to wirelessly charge?
