Actor John Barrowman finished in third place, with actress Emily Atack in second.

The 71-year-old became a firm favourite with the public from the get-go - despite never having seen the show before signing up to head down under.

During his three weeks in the jungle, Redknapp charmed viewers with his love for Sandra, his wife of 54 years, along with entertaining tales about his life.

Atack, Barrowman and Redknapp each got a final Bushtucker trial - Atack wore a helmet full of cockroaches and spiders, Redknapp lay in an underground chamber as insects and rats ran over him and Barrowman had to eat some jungle "delicacies" included beach worms, goats eyes, a bull's penis and a dead spider.

"Can I be the jungle princess?" she asked hosts Holly Willoughby and Declan Donnelly.

"And she also has her commitments at This Morning to think about", they added. I tried to submerge myself in doing things and then I hit a wall at four days and I had to sit for a day or two to readjust and just get my thoughts to make sure I was on the right track to get through the rest.

Barrowman was emotional as he left the camp, and explained it was "a bit of relief and a bit of excitement".
