China's Lunar Lander To Explore Moon's Far Side

China probe readies to land on dark side of the Moon

China’s lunar probe changes orbit to land on dark side of moon

"8:55 30 Dec Chang'e-4, was successfully implemented exit the lunar orbit and successfully logged on to a scheduled training course for the landing on the back side of the moon", - stated in the message.

The CNSA said that the control center still has to choose a proper time to land the probe on the far side of the moon.

The mission is groundbreaking for a number of reasons but the most notable is that it'll be the first soft landing on the far side of the Moon, and China's second Moon landing overall. It did not say when the landing would occur.

The Chang'e-4 probe contains a lander, as well as a rover that can explore the lunar surface.

We begin 2019 with a partial solar eclipse, so it's only fair we also get a lunar one.

Direct communication with the far side of the moon, however, is not possible, which is one of the many challenges for the Chang'e-4 lunar probe mission.

The administration said Chang'e 4's scientific tasks included astronomical observation using low-frequency radio, surveying the terrain and landforms, detecting the mineral composition and shallow lunar surface structure, and measuring neutron radiation and neutral atoms, to build up an understanding of the environment on the moon's far side.

At 12:12 a.m. ET on January 21, a rare lunar phenomenon known as a super blood wolf moon eclipse will be visible in the night skies over North and South America and western parts of Europe and Africa.

The caravan, which left Honduras in mid-October, grew to more than 6,000 members during its month-and-a-half trek north. Trump is now locked in a fight with congressional Democrats over funding for the border wall that he wants to build.

Because the moon will be at its closest point to Earth, the moon will look even bigger and much brighter, causing it to be also known as a supermoon.

For those unaware, the near side of the moon was reached by U.S. astronauts between 1969 and 1976, while the Soviet Union achieved the feat in 1976.

Although this is not the first attempt to shed light on the dark side of the moon, all previous expeditions have only seen it without ever landing on it.

Chang'e-4, the probe reportedly entered a planned orbit late Sunday, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

If successful, the Chang'e-4 mission will be a step toward China's ambitions to be on par with the United States and Russian Federation in the field of space exploration.

In doing so, China aims to catch up with Russian Federation and the USA to become a major space power by 2030.

Beijing, for its part, insists its intentions are completely peaceful.
