Three men have been killed and four wounded in a shooting in the U.S. state of California after a late-night fight at a bowling alley. Officers found multiple victims with gunshot wounds upon entering the gaming venue.

Three men died on the scene and two of those injured were transported to a hospital.

A late-night fight at a California bowling alley turned deadly Friday night, killing three men and injuring four. "Two additional males were injured, however, they offered to seek their own medical attention", the statement continued.

Police are urging people to "stay away from the area" near the bowling alley. Whether or not this confrontation was the cause of the violent shooting has not been confirmed by police.

Police officials responded to the scene at 11.54 pm (local time).

Wes Hamad told CNN affiliates KTLA and KABC that he was in the bowling alley with his 13-year-old niece and a cousin when they saw a "huge fight" break out.

Torrance, a coastal city, is located around 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of downtown Los Angeles in the South Bay region.

He said: "I grabbed my niece and started running toward the far end of the bowling alley".

Police said they are searching for suspects and that an investigation is underway. All we heard was just, like two people got shot, ' he told the newspaper.

They added: 'T P D is on scene.

The shooting reportedly took place after an argument broke out during a birthday party in the bowling alley. "We must do more to address gun violence". "People that were still bowling on the lanes were on the floor, underneath the seats, behind the benches and several of us ran into the bar". Women were crying, screaming and clinging together as a group.
