The Acer Predator Triton 900 morphs gaming laptops into something new

Acer's Predator Triton 900 is a $4,000 gaming laptop with a crazy hinge

Acer's New Gaming Laptop Comes With a Crazy Hinge

Rather than your bog-standard laptop form factor, the Acer Predator Triton 900's screen features an "Ezel Aero Hinge" that allows the 17-inch display to rotate and move.

The Acer Predator Triton 900 was announced previous year but details on the hardware behind the hybrid gaming laptop were kept under wraps. The device comes with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM along with an SSD. I'm not sure ergonomics is top of mind for most gamers who are willing to shell out $4,000 for a laptop, but it can't hurt either.

Acer's other new gaming notebook, the Predator Triton 500 is also not here to disappoint. That display can be flipped around to cover the keyboard, making this not just a gaming laptop but a convertible laptop.

It has 144Hz 1080p display with Nvidia G-Sync.

Warriors request review of Cavaliers' Patrick McCaw signing
The day the Cavaliers signed Patrick McCaw , they had nine healthy players available for a game that night in Miami. It's unclear how long the NBA's review will take, or what - if anything - the Warriors are seeking.

There was only one problem - Acer couldn't show us them switched on when we saw them because the Nvidia graphics - RTX 2080 - hadn't yet been announced. The notebook also comes equipped with an Xbox wireless receiver to allow users to play PC games on Windows 10 with an Xbox controller. Despite packing all that hardware, the Predator Triton 900 manages to maintain a relatively slim profile at 23.75 mm (0.94 inches).

Internally the aforementioned mobile-focused Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card features, with up to an 8th Gen Intel i7 (8750-H) processor added to the mix.

For surround sound audio experience, the laptop features Waves Maxx and Waves Nx technology with head tracking. For the fully loaded configuration, a Triton 500 will go for around $2,999. It can be upgraded to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 GPUs which can be overclocked for some VR-Ready games. Overclocking, fan speeds, lighting, and audio modes will all be under the control of this app and macros can also be viewed and set for physical hotkeys. It will be available in North America in February with prices starting at US$1,799, in EMEA in February with prices starting at €1,999, and in China in January with prices starting at ¥16,999.

If this massive machine catches your fancy, you have a few months until March to save your pennies as the Acer Predator Triton 900 comes at a hefty price tag of $3,999 and will be available in North America.
