Laerskool Schweizer-Renecker, the North West school that has found itself the source of outrage over a picture that showed a classroom where black children were sitting at the back, separate to their white counterparts, has released a statement saying the photo is "a reflection of a single moment in a classroom", and not an indication of school policy.
Meanwhile, the North West education department said it would return to the school next week when it received the outcomes of its investigation.
The situation was tense at the school on Thursday morning, after a photo circulated on social media showing black children seated separately from their white classmates at a Grade R class at the school.
She revealed that just like all other parents, she dropped her child before being asked to leave the school premises.
A mother of one of the four, who was angered by the incident, said the photo was sent to the school's WhatsApp group. It is hard to fathom how this could be so when one can clearly see that, based on the seating arrangements only, the black kid was purposefully placed away from the other children with her lunchbox while everyone else enjoyed cupcakes.
"What is most provoking about this image is not that black kids are ostracized from white kids, that is common in our supposedly post-apartheid Africa".

They said if the segregation is proved they would be "strongly condemning" it.
'The barbaric conduct displayed by private schools of racial segregating children is equally the same as giving innocent children experience of an apartheid system'.
This time of year is supposed to be joyous as a lot of kids start their school careers while others return to a higher grade.
