They might be looking to the January transfer window to secure a loan move, which could prove crucial to development.

The Spaniard also said he would be happy if no signings were made throughout the month.

The Welshman played in Arsenal's 3-0 FA Cup win at League One side Blackpool and had his name sung by the away fans.

Five players were signed last summer - Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi - but all came in for a total outlay of less than £75million.

Unai Emery has revealed that he is adapting his intense training sessions to deal with Arsenal's packed fixture list and the raft of injuries they have picked up recently.

"But I can not sign more".

"We pushed him to play after his injuries because we needed him in some matches".

"I say to him every day, is that we need his performance for us", Emery said.

Emery was non-committal when asked about his former player in his press conference on Thursday.

"I know this player and he's a very good player", Emery went on.

Emery said: "Little by little Koscielny is feeling better and he can play consistently in the next matches".

"I am happy because another player can have chances when one player is injured and they are doing well, that is the reason for us being calm and my confidence with the club is big, they are working and if one or two players can come and help us that is ideal".

The Uruguayan says he is fully concentrated on working hard and proving his worth to the team, after having to wait to make his full debut under Unai Emery at the start of the season.

Asked whether he would consider giving players a break, Emery said: "We are doing that".
