Huawei: Tackling security concerns may take five years

A hot potato: China is able to pump out mass quantities of cheap tech products, but cellular networking equipment produced by Chinese companies is on the brink of a total ban from the United States according to administration insiders.

"Modern communications networks are complex systems that keep evolving in new and innovative ways", he wrote, adding that the fix process was like "replacing components on a high-speed train in motion".

The company also denied previous claims it could be compelled to assist Chinese national intelligence work using information gathered from the UK.

"Our solid track record in security is our strongest evidence [against the security allegations]", said Ryan Ding, the head of Huawei's carrier business group.

Last year's United Kingdom government report was written by the Huawei Cyber Security Evaluation Centre (HCSEC), which was set up in 2010 in response to concerns that BT and others' use of the firm's equipment could pose a threat.

'It is a complicated and involved process and will take at least three to five years to see tangible results.

Relations between the United States and China worsened amid a current trade war between the countries since Trump announced last June that $50 billion worth of Chinese goods would be subject to 25 percent tariffs in a bid to fix the US-Chinese trade deficit.

The HCSEC, located in Oxfordshire, was launched in November 2010 to help mitigate any potential risks from using Huawei technology in the UK's critical national infrastructure. We choose to ensure security.

Allegedly, Huawei's 5G infrastructure equipment can come with backdoors, allowing the Chinese government to spy on communications of any country using Huawei's gear. Japan, Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, those are just some of the countries that are considering the ban on Huawei.

In December, Huawei's chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou was arrested in Canada at the request of the US.

The US Justice Department has charged Huawei with conspiring to violate US sanctions on Iran and with stealing robotic technology from T-Mobile.
