Benjamin Mendy has reassured Pep Guardiola that he is not in Hong Kong despite posting on Instagram that he was at Hong Kong global airport on Friday morning. He returned against Burton Albion in the League Cup but suffered a set-back, putting him back on the sideline.
With the hashtag #WheresMendy, the France global raised more eyebrows over his location in a Twitter post which appeared to suggest he was in Dubai.
He is not yet fit to return to action ahead of City's clash with Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League, and as such was given the green light by Guardiola to make a trip to Barcelona and Paris in a bid to regain his fitness.
'Wow, I didn't know, ' Guardiola said. Before he said he was going one day to Paris, but Hong Kong is far away.
"I had tickets to go but the Premier League chose to put the game at Everton then".

'He's injured, it's not easy - meniscus. He needs to readapt. You have to be careful'.
Asked about Mendy being in Hong Kong, he added: "Wow, Hong Kong? It will definitely not be OK if he is in Hong Kong".
Mendy then clarified he wasn't in Hong Kong after Pep Guardiola's comments.
It is not the first time Mendy's social media usage has got him into hot water with Guardiola this season.
Pep Guardiola was left shocked to hear Benjamin Mendy had posted his location as Hong Kong on social media, as he was under the impression the Manchester City defender was in Barcelona.
