21 Savage has found some support from the music community, with Jay-Z calling his arrest "an absolute travesty, his U visa petition has been pending for 4 years".

The rapper, whose real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was nominated for two Grammys, both for his collaboration with Post Malone, "Rockstar". "Mr. Abraham-Joseph was taken into ICE custody as he is unlawfully present in the US and also a convicted felon".

Alex Spiro, the NY attorney who at one time represented rap mogul Jay-Z, has taken on Abraham-Joseph's case at his famous client's request this week.

He has applied for a U visa, designed for victims of crime who have suffered "substantial abuse" in the USA, after his lawyers said he survived a shooting in 2013.

Abraham-Joseph has three children who are American citizens, which his lawyers say make him eligible for deportation relief. Jay Z released a statement on Facebook that said Savage deserved to be reunited with his family immediately.
