UFC: Robert Whittaker hospitalised with a hernia, pulls pin on title fight

Tonight's UFC 234 Main Event Scrapped, Former Champion Elevated Into Headline Fight

Hartitz’s UFC 234 Betting Guide: Can Robert Whittaker Retain his Title against Kelvin Gastelum?

A medical condition forced middleweight champion Robert Whittaker to withdraw UFC 234 just hours before he was slated to defend his belt against Kelvin Gastelum.

UFC president Dana White stated that Whittaker began complaining of issues after weighing in Friday night and was taken to a local hospital.

The UFC is back in Australia for today's UFC 234 event. He was diagnosed with an abdominal hernia.

With next to no time to find a replacement for Whittaker in the Australian showpiece, UFC 234 will now likely feature a fight between Anderson Silva and Israel Adesanya as the main event. Both fighters possess long limbs, silky unpredictable movement, a love for comic and anime and endless cardio but being the kings of walking the walk makes their talk even more intriguing.

Per Okamoto, the hernia was not related to Whittaker's weight cut.

Durant lets loose after Warriors beat Spurs 141-102
Kevin Durant is not happy with his media coverage. "You ask my teammates, my coaches, you rile up the fanbase about it. Let us play basketball, that's all I'm saying". "Do not 'shut up and dribble, ' but understand what you are doing".

The event was scheduled to take place in Melbourne, Australia, due to the 28-year-old's status as the first Australian to hold a UFC belt.

The loss of Whittaker will certainly be a massive disappointment for many fans with UFC 234 tickets.

The Sydney-based star has experienced a horror run of injuries and illness throughout his career, including a gruesome abscess infection which forced him to pull out of UFC 221 in 2018.

"Kelvin is the biggest hurdle in my way, and he's a true test", Whittaker said.

Those plans will now be delayed, given Gastelum is next in line for a title shot before the victor of the Adesanya-Silva showdown. "I look forward to learning something from it and growing".
