It was Westbrook's 10th assist, securing his 10th consecutive triple-double and breaking an National Basketball Association record held by no less a record-setter than Wilt Chamberlain.
But his teammate, Paul George, as versatile as he is, is not as accustomed to achieving the feat as Westbrook.
Westbrook broke a tie with Wilt Chamberlain's 1969 mark by finishing with 21 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
"Definitely an unbelievable moment", Westbrook said.
"I've got a lot of confidence in Raymond", Thunder coach Billy Donovan said before the game.

"I never even dreamed of playing in the National Basketball Association or standing here talking to you guys".
"To go out an compete, we are truly thankful to the man above for blessing me and going out and playing the game I love". Each time I get to walk into this locker room and see my name up there, it's a blessing for me.
"That's an unbelievable moment in of itself". George finished with 47 points after a fourth-quarter scoring spree.
Paul George is averaging 28.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.3 steals over 36.2 minutes per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor, 41.3 percent from 3-point range and 83.6 percent from the free-throw line.
The figures make George and Westbrook the first teammates in National Basketball Association history to record triple-doubles in the same game with both players scoring at least 20 points in the process. "I didn't know it was that close". Oscar Robertson is the only other player in league history to have averaged a triple-double throughout a season. Westbrook told George that he was one assist away.
