Edwards, a 6-5 wing from Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta and a McDonalds All-American, is spurning the likes of Kentucky and Florida State to make his pledge for UGA.
Anthony Edwards, a five-star recruit considered a consensus top-five member of the 2019 class, made a decision to stay home and play for the Bulldogs on an announcement on Monday, spurning the likes of Kentucky in the process. That does still rank one spot behind the 2019 Texas basketball recruiting class.
Adding Edwards helped boost the Bulldogs in the 2019 recruiting rankings, all the way up to No. 12. "On my visit we watched film together, and he talks with so much energy".
The 17-year-old, who took an official visit to Georgia on December 1, added that the opportunity to be coached by Crean was a decisive factor.

Eye witnesses say the man who opened fire was running away from the studio when he started shooting behind him. The suspects were reported to be seen fleeing the scene with a lot of cash and jewellery while firing shots.
After landing the commitment from the ultra talented Anthony Edwards on February 11, head coach Tom Crean and the Dawgs 2019 recruiting class obviously skyrocketed up the national class rankings.
Crean, in his first year at Georgia, coached Wade at Marquette and Oladipo at Indiana.
"They came in, not highly rated, and came out really good".
Edwards lives approximately 90 minutes away from Georgia's campus and he admitted the opportunity of remaining close to his family while at college was very important to him.
"The reason I picked the University of Georgia is because it's my home school", Edwards told ESPN's Paul Biancardi. As a senior at Holy Spirit, Edwards has been averaging 26.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
