In a bid to grab a pie of the growing Indian audio streaming industry, Google-owned YouTube on Tuesday announced the launch of its new music streaming app YouTube Music in the country. In addition to that, the Music app also gets access to YouTube's large and exclusive catalog of music videos, covers of popular songs and more. The battle of music streaming in India just got a little more interesting. This offers extended features of YouTube Music Premium and just not music.

While it's not really that hard to find music to play on YouTube, it can get pretty inconvenient to shoehorn a service that wasn't built for that goal. India's love for music comes as no surprise for the company, which has seen T-Series, a music label and movie production house from the country, nearly overtake PewDiePie, the biggest YouTuber in terms of subscribers.
While users will be able to stream the music for free in the ad-supported version of the application, the company is also offering paid membership with additional features such as playing songs in the background, offline downloads and an ad-free experience for ₹99 per month.
