Facebook and Instagram experienced outages around the world on Wednesday.

Some are reporting problems with the app loading slowly, feeds not refreshing and some can't login at all.

Israel closed the structure claiming it was used by a heritage organisation with ties to the Hamas militant group. Officials in Jordan have confirmed that they are in negotiations with Israel to resolve the dispute.

It is thought that Instagram's sister platforms, Facebook and Facebook Messenger may also be experiencing difficulties on Wednesday. According to website Down Detector, the majority of users affected are situated in North America, Europe, and Latin America.

The outage includes Oculus, Facebook's virtual reality company and Workplace, its corporate comunications software.

Facebook did not say what caused the outages.
