"The Sopranos" Prequel Film, "Newark", Sets a Release Date for Fall 2020

New Line Cinema Sets Sopranos Prequel Film For September 2020

Warner Bros Dates ‘Sopranos’ Prequel ‘Newark’ For Fall 2020

Nivola will play young Dickie Moltisanti, the late father of Christopher Moltisanti (played by Michael Imperioli) and cousin of Carmela Soprano.

Who will star as the young Tony Soprano? (Robert Iler) after an investigation was launched into his ties with the mafia.

The rest of the cast includes Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen and John Magaro, although there's still no word on what parts any of those actors will play.

As Tony's daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) runs up to the diner, the bell over the door dings, as Tony looks up and the series cuts to black, leaving fans with an ambiguous ending that was rather controversial.

Oakland Raiders Release WR Jordy Nelson
Nelson would have been battling for field time with Brown and Tyrell Williams , who also was just signed by the Raiders. He caught 63 passes for 739 yards and three touchdowns over 15 games in his only season with the Raiders.

The upcoming film will be set in 1960s Newark, New Jersey, and will touch upon the Newark riots, which occurred during the "Long Hot Summer of 1967" when race riots spread across United States cities.

Many characters from the original "Sopranos" series are expected to appear in "Newark" so numerous actors hired already could be playing the younger versions of the ones made famous on the show.

"The Sopranos" ultimately ran six seasons and won 21 Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes, and a Peabody Award en route to world-renowned status, thus the prequel will likely be a box-office hit when it's released nationwide on September 25, 2020.

The Sopranos series creator David Chase is co-producing and writing with Lawrence Konner.
